It would be great if anyone of you could help me with this. I'm currently writing a fic where Sherlock ends up bound to a chair and left to die in a London sewer. Can anyone tell me whether these sewers still are connected directly with the Thames? So when the tide rises the sewer would fill and Sherlock would drown? How common are sliding glass doors on houses? Would French doors be more likely? In the US, usually we have them connect to a back yard or patio (speaking of which, patio or courtyard? same/similar?) but I know it's a pretty modern device and I can't think of any time I've seen one in the various BBC shows that I've watched.
